ABOUT THE DESIGNER.
Ms. Estella Ogbonna is a self-taught couturier who started designing at the tender age of 6 years old. She made her first skirt with needle, thread and a piece of discarded cotton calendar fabric lying around her house. Ms. Estella’s unmatched drive for fashion design made her pioneer unique, Imaginative, exotic, trendy, and haute couture design that are all hers! “I have a deep passion for fashion”, Estella describes in her words. Fashion for her started as a hobby and took a life of its own. This passion, like a breath of fresh attitude shows in her designs. The use of traditional, ethnic fabric and materials from Africa, Asia and other parts of the world, mixed with conventional fabrics creates a master fashion art that is in a class of its own. And with standout detailing and finishes engage many fashion dynamics, SewingWithEstelle distinguishes itself on runways worldwide.
DESIGNS
SewingWithEstelle designs are original, unmistakably imaginative, classic, yet fresh. Ms. Estella’s designs offer creative fashion options to young sophisticated, fashion-forward woman who dare to express an uncommon style. Rendered in natural fabric blends, here designs are imbibed with cultural earthy tones and textures. Estella is well known for her elegant, versatile and sculpted evening gowns and traditional pieces. With designs inspired by exotic ethnic apparels of Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and Europe, SewingWithEstelle has mastered the ability to combine traditional themes with modern western looks to create designs for the stylish American woman.
SewingWithEstelle also provides custom designing to suit any body type and style, of private clientele. The company’s Bridal dresses, Red Carpet collections, Prom collections, Elegant Evening collections, haute couture line sways to any runway theme and programs outlined.

EDUCATION
Ms. Estella Ogbonna earned two diploma degrees in (Special Education for the Hearing handicaps, and Computer Science), in addition to a Bachelor degree in Computer Network Administration, and another in Psychology. She started her Masters program in MBA and MPA (Project Management) in 2006, though placed it on hold to fully pursue her inner passion for fashion, and never looked back. She later enrolled for another Diploma in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing to give the fashion world another view from her lens.
ACHIEVEMENTS
SewingWithEstelle collection she called “FUSION OF COLORS” received accolades from Africans and Americans alike for its bold imagery and style. Within a year of starting her business, Estella earned the much acclaimed Award of Best Nigerian Fashion Designer in the USA in 2006 by the Nigeria Entertainment Award. Since then, SewingWithEstelle has received honors, awards, recognition and invitations to events from organizations, academia and associations around the world.
Her collections have been seen on runways like NYC Spring 2007 Couture Fashion Week, World Bank, African Events, VOGUE Black Designers Fashion Shows, DC Fashion Week, across University Campuses in USA, and also been featured at State of the Art events in Africa, Europe and Canada.
MISSION
Estella is not just a successful fashion designer, she is also a Community Development enthusiast. Her main mission is to use her gift and talents as a fashion designer to work on projects that are very dear to her heart, especially Women Health Rights Issues.
Her giving knows no bounds, being why she set up a Charity Sewing Club – So So Sewing Club (www.sososewing.com) to teach young girls and women how to sew, and have them creating items that are donated to the needy and sick children in hospitals.
One thing is certain, Ms. Estella is not just a Fashion Designer, Clothier and couturier, she is also a force to reckon with and one with a huge heart who uses her talent to change the worlds view on fashion through fusion of diverse culture saying “we’re one’.
